a conference on clothes & the people who make them
Friday, September 18, 2015 at The New School University Center

On the day after Fashion Week, let’s deconstruct the fashion industry!  Craft Talk and The New School’s Association for International Development would like to invite you to help us deconstruct the fashion industry on Friday the 18th of September at The New School University Center.   We have organized a fun, insightful, and proactive conference bringing together fashion and design professionals from industry and academia.

Together, we’ll consider the working conditions of the farmers, millers, printers & dyers, designers, cutters, seamstresses, buyers, importers, distributors, marketers, and sellers who produce the clothes we wear. We’ll examine the human costs of fashion’s global supply chain along with current trends and future possibilities for sustainable manufacturing. The day will consist of two presentations by prominent ethical fashion professionals, an interactive Human Centered Design workshop —where we’ll come up with new ideas for change within the fashion industry, a panel discussion with industry trailblazers, and a cocktail hour.
